Its been five days since I have been here, and yet it seems I have lived in snow covered land for eternity. I had never hoped to see so much of snow within such short period of time and that too when I was least prepared.
It seems the regions snowfall and the newly whitewashed hostels have some uncanny similarities. Both, for instance, were aimed at covering up all of our filthy surroundings with an overall cover not paying any heed to actually paying heed to take it out in the first place. It seems when the situation goes out of control, we tend to cover each and every aberration with a single stroke. I suspect our inclination to fall on our ignorance in times of great introspection plays a big role in this.
Apart from playing in the snow and loathing the dampness, I have been reading a new book “The Physics of the Future by Michio Kaku”. Its a wonderful book in which the author predicts technologies that might emerge based on recent innovations and research in the coming century. From extending our age to having powers associated with gods of mythology, he predicts our future to be more controlled and dominated by technologies. Its a wonderful read, specially to someone who believes in the goodness of the human race to somehow despite all the odds overcome its frivolous shortcomings.
I have also betrayed my self imposed ban on eating meat, that too at the earliest possible event. But I would like to lay the blame on the weather and still hope to one day become a full vegetarian.
